Workshop

Just need space to work on those bigger projects? Or perhaps you want a bit of guidance or a new perspective on your build? Maybe you just fancy a cup of tea and a custard cream? In every case, our workshop is the solution! Kitted out with a range of handheld and benchtop power tools, we have the machinery and the space to allow you the freedom to take your project to the next level. Our Workshop Coordinator and trained volunteers are always happy to lend a hand when asked, or be on hand if needed. See below for more information on how to get involved with our workshop space.

Inductions

Everybody requires an induction to use our workshop. Even the Belfast Tool Library founders had to get their boxes ticked to be allowed access! Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, every member of BTL who wants to use the workshop must go through the induction process to maintain the highest level of safety and comfort around our workshop tools and machinery. It’s completely free for paid up members, but does require a booking, as inductions will only be held on a once a month basis to maximise the use of the workshop for open sessions.

Please email jane@belfasttoollibrary.com to book your spot now!

Open Sessions

This is where the fun really starts. Your induction gave you a taste of what was on offer, but now you want more… Well, fill your boots! We’re running open workshop sessions for all inducted members completely free of charge on a Thursday evening (6-9pm) and Saturday morning (9.30am-12.30pm). You can come and go as you please throughout each session, and occasionally we’ll have special guests in attendance to demonstrate a new tool, or teach something new. Booking is required to keep an eye on capacity, so please click here to book your spot.

Classes

There’s no better way to learn something new than from a local professional and we have access to some of the best in the business! From beginner’s woodwork to advanced stitchwork, we have a class for everyone. Open to members and non-members alike, booking early is essential to avoid disappointment.
